Recipe #001: Cold and Sinus Drink

As part of the process of trying to improve my relationship with my mom, one of the things she has been doing is teaching me to cook. I am glad she’s been able to show me so much since knowing how to prepare your own food is an extremely valuable skill. I hope to put more recipes up as I learn them so here is the first, a simple cold and sinus home remedy.

This is a little home remedy from my mom is useful in case a cold happens to come your way. It is made to help get rid of some of the symptoms like runny nose or nasal congestion. I took some a few minutes ago and I am starting to feel better. She recommended to drink it 2 to 3 times a day and definitely before bed time.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of water
  • 3 table spoons of brown sugar
  • 1 table spoon of honey
  • 1 lime

How to Prepare:

  1. Begin boiling the water in a pot as it is boiling start squeezing the lime juice into the boiling water.
  2. Let the water boil on medium for about 5 minutes.
  3. Next add the brown sugar.
  4. Let the brown sugar and water boil at medium for another 5 minutes.
  5. Take the teaspoon of honey and put it into the cup you will drink out of.
  6. Take the pot of boiling mixture and pour into the cup until the cup is full. If you have some mixture left over just save it for later.
  7. Stir the cup for about a minute.
  8. Now it is ready to drink so drink up and relax.

Please try to remember that after you drink the remedy to only drink warm or hot drinks for the next 2 to 3 hours just so that it doesn’t mess up the drink working on your system.  Also if and when possible try to get rest in an area where you can get plenty of sunlight. The Sun usually makes me feel better, probably why I like living in Arizona, so I try to get as much of it as I can. I recommend the same to others. Enjoy the Home Remdy, Sun, Relax, and Restup. C ya.
